Behind The Lens
Whenever I stumble upon the ‘about’ section for photographers, there is always a really great story about photography and how they found their way into the passion, or how they had a really great job being a photographer or film maker for a company after studying photography. I don’t have that story. I also find it weird how it is usually always written in the 3rd person, so I’m writing this section in the first person.
Swiftly moving on.. Hey there! The name is Giordano (or Jordan, or even JB; it’s your choice), and I am someone who is somewhat obssesed with the camera. I had my first point and shoot camera as a 15 year old because a friend in New Jersey ran a vlog channel on YouTube and encouraged me to give it a try. I wasn’t a fan of the vlogging side of things, but I tried my hand at taking photos. It was random at first (and pretty terrible to be honest.. composition? What is composition?…) but I found myself pretty much hooked after that. I saved up for a DSLR (Canon 700D) at 22 and I was amazed at the interchangeable lenses, different modes on the camera body, the depth of field, ND filters, lens hoods, I loved it all.
Fast forward to today; I’ve switched to a mirrorless Canon setup and I don’t leave home without it. I love to be outdoors and also the challenge of trying to capture something I find interesting but in a way that other people would find it interesting too. It may seem like a challenge, and my memory cards may agree with you there, but I love it. It’s a burning desire inside of me that I will never let go of, and I am overjoyed that you are here and viewing some of the photographs I captured. There’s a quote “photography is the pause button in life” and it truly is. Photography truly lives forever. And that’s what I am here to do! (Not live forever, but take photos).
